‘Let poverty not becomea hindrance to studies’

Inmates of children homes with good marks in SSC felicitated

Collector A.Md. Imtiyaz felicitated the students presented a memento and a citation, for those who were economically poor, orphan and semi-orphan, and scored above 9 CGPA in tenth class in the district.

The children who were staying in different children homes in Krishna district due to various reasons were presented the awards.

Officials of the Juvenile Welfare department organised the programme, at the Collector's camp office here on Sunday.

In all, 47 students secured 9 CGPA and above marks. About 20 children got 9.7 and 9.8, announced recently, said District Probation Officer (DPO) K. Bhaskar of the Juvenile Welfare Department.Parents, guardians and the home representatives of different places attended the programme, said Protection Officer G. Rama.

Mr. Imtiyaz interacted with the students, enquired about their plans, family background and asked the students to continue education. He complimented the students for scoring good marks.

Pat for managements

“No student should stop education due to poverty. If any child has problem in continuing studies, you can meet me,” the Collector said. He directed the DPO to collect details of the students who scored good marks (even below 9 CGPA) in each home and submit the particulars by May 31 so that admissions can be provided in different colleges as per their choice.

Joint Collector-II P. Babu Rao praised home managements for imparting good education, besides providing accommodation.

When asked about their life ambition, the students said that they want to appear for Civils and serve society and some want to become entrepreneurs.

There was a big appaluse when a girl student said that she wants to become an MLA.

Students K. Manisha,Y. Sravani, S. Mounica, K. Vamshi, D. Ramesh, P. Raghava Kumar, V. Lakshmi Jayari, R. Vinay, K. Syam Kumar, A. Hema Chand, K. Vamshi and Md. Afreen were among those felicitated.
