May 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:02 am IST - Tirumala:

For the second day on Sunday the leopard scare continued to haunt the pilgrims trekking along the Sri Vari Mettu footpath to reach the sacred hill abode of Lord Venkateswara. The information with regard to movement of the big cat along the footpath reached the TTD Vigilance and security personnel in the early hours of the day. In a swift reaction the personnel alerted the forest officials and also closed down the route for trekking. The route was opened to trekking only after obtaining clearance from the wildlife DFO Tirupati division Mr. Srinivas who undertook a journey to the area with his men.
