The CPI(M), CPI, Jana Sena and others joining it will emerge as a big force and offer a political alternative to the TDP, BJP, YSRCP and the Congress in A.P., CPI(M) Polit Buro member B.V. Raghavulu has said.
Addressing a meeting before launching a Bus Yatra to campaign for the alternative here on Saturday, he said the two Left parties and the Jana Sena had discussions and agreed on certain aspects like social justice, backward regions being neglected, lack of irrigation facilities, safeguarding the interests of unions and the rights of workers and farmers. They were of the view there was no difference between the TDP and the YSRCP. “We are coming forward with a specific plan for Dalits, farmers and workers and seeking power to implement it,” he said.
After four years, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu suddenly remembered the welfare of Muslims. Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, on the other hand, was soft towards the BJP, he alleged, questioning the secularism of both the leaders.
Maha Garjana on Sept. 15
The Bus Yatra, led by CPI(M) State secretary P. Madhu and CPI assistant secretary Muppalla Nageswara Rao will reach Vijayawada covering the North Coastal districts, the Agency and the Godavari districts. Another yatra from Anatapur will also reach Vijayawada. A ‘Maha Garjana’ meeting will be held on September 15.
CPI national secretary K. Narayana pointed out how in spite of being a part of the all-party committee in the past for the Railway Zone, the BJP had failed to get it. After the TDP left the BJP, the YSRCP was now aligning itself with that party, he alleged. Mr. Narayana later flagged off the bus yatra from Jagadamba Junction.
‘Left has key role’
Meanwhile, addressing public meetings at Etcherla and Srikakulam, after the launch of the Bus Yatra, CPI(M) State secretary P.Madhu and CPI State assistant secretary M.Nageswara Rao on Saturday said it was time people extended their support to the Left parties to get proper and credible alternative political force in Andhra Pradesh. They said people were ‘fed up’ with the TDP government and only the Left would be able to play a vital role in A.P. politics.
Mr.Madhu alleged that the State and Central governments were adopting ‘anti-people policies’.
The parties will hold a public meeting at Palakonda of Srikakulam district on Sunday.
