AP seeks 10 tmcft water for Krishna Delta

State government on Thursday sought release of 10 tmcft of water for drinking water requirements and about 162 tmcft for forthcoming kharif season from June 12 from Nagarjunasagar for total ayacut of 13.08 lakh acres in Krishna Delta. The Engineer-in-Chief (Irrigation) submitted the requirement in a letter to the Member Secretary, Krishna River Management Board.

In the letter, he said there was an immediate need for release of 10 tmcft ( at the rate of 7,700 cusecs) for drinking water requirements for villages en-route and for preparation of nurseries in Krishna delta.

It requested for release of water for Khariff-2015 as also 10 tmcft of water for 15 days from June 12 to meet the immediate drinking water needs and requirements for preparation of nurseries.

Based on the request, the KRMB would fix the date for holding a meeting between irrigation officials of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
