Kadapa airport likely to be operational by May 15

Bengaluru-based airline Air Pegasus has evinced interest to ply flights from Kadapa airport to Bengaluru.

Efforts are being made to inaugurate the Kadapa airport between May 10 and 15, District Collector K.V. Ramana said on Thursday.

Union Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the airport, Narasimha Murthy, Southern Regional Executive Director of Airports Authority of India told the Collector in a meeting here.

Bengaluru-based airline Air Pegasus has evinced interest to ply flights from Kadapa airport to Bengaluru, Mr. Murthy said and exhorted the district authorities to take steps to prevent entry of deer into the airport and clear the bushes from the airport premises.

The Fire Safety officials are yet to issue the no-objection certificate, the AAI official said. Later, the AAI officials, Collector, DFO Mohiuddin and Executive Engineer of Irrigation Mallikarjuna inspected the airport. AAI General Manager (Air Traffic Management) Sylvester Israel, Southern Regional General Manager Venugopal, Kadapa Airport Director Srinivasan and Assistant General Managers Venkata Chalapathi and Seshaiah participated in the meeting.
