Kabaddi League tourney from today

Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa and Labour and Sports Minister Kinjarapu Attchem Naidu will inaugurate the four-day All India Kabaddi League tournament at the Government Arts College grounds on Thursday.

The Telugu Kabaddi Association (TKA), Rajahmundry, which is affiliated to the Andhra Pradesh Kabaddi Association, is organising the All India tournament, which will conclude on February 7.

Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Vasireddy Rambabu on Wednesday announced at a press conference here that 200 players from 14 States would participate in the Men and Women’s league, which would be held under floodlights. He added that Kabaddi was the native game of the united Andhra, and that it should be encouraged at all levels.

TKA president Y. Rajesh Babu said in the men’s wing, AP, Delhi, Maharastra, Telangana (Railways), UP, Jammu-Kashmir and Andhra (Railways) are participating in the tournament. In the women’s wing, West Bengal, Maharastra, Telangana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, AP and Haryana teams are participating in the event.
