Junior doctors go on flash strike

Protest delay in submission of SIT’s report over suicide of a junior doctor

Junior doctors attached to the SVRR Government Hospital at Tirupati on Wednesday went on a flash strike protesting against the delay in submitting of the report by the Special Investigation Team that probed the suicide of junior doctor Shilpa. She alleged sexual harassment by the senior faculty members of the paediatrics wing, where she was a PG student, as the reason for her extreme step.

The protesters alleged that though it was assured that the report would be submitted at the earliest, there was inordinate delay in the process. Senior professors and police tried to pacify the agitators, who said they would continue their stir, and would attend only emergency cases.
