Former IRS officer Metta Rama Rao, who is contesting for Srikakulam Lok Sabha seat on Jana Sena Party ticket said that he would garner the support of all the parties to chalk out an action plan for the overall development of North Andhra region. He said that he would organise meeting after the election to discuss about the legitimate rights of the region.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, he said that proper utilisation of Godavari waters and resources of other rivers would made barren lands fertile within no time. Mr. Rama Rao, who worked in Central Customs and Excise, Goods Services Tax wing, hails from Kanituru of Nandigama mandal of Srikakulam district.

“Srikakulam district has all resources but it remained underdeveloped due to lack of commitment among the leaders. It is the main reason for me to resign from the job although I had seven more years of service,” Mr. Rama Rao said. He felt that the Chief Minister post should be given to a public representative elected from North Andhra region. “CM’s post is always in the hands of Rayalaseema region mostly. It is a setback for North Andhra region since the successive Chief Ministers did not have overall idea about the issues of this region,” he added.

According to sources, Mr.Rama Rao’s entry caused tension among the two major parties Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress Party. TDP’s nominee Mr. Rammohan Naidu belongs to Velama community and YSRCP fielded Duvvada Srinivas of Kalinga community and Mr. Rama Rao is also from Kalinga community. Mr. Rama Rao feels that the people would not think of community since they would vote for the candidate after studying his commitment and service attitude.

Mr. Rama Rao alleged that both the YSRCP and the TDP indulged in money power but he had depended on intellectual capabilities to win the hearts of the voters.
