The dingy lanes of this sleepy town were bustling with activity on Saturday, as the president of the YSR Congress Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy took out a road show through the town. Mr. Jagan had been campaigning for the elections to the municipalities and municipal corporations in the district. A convoy of over a dozen cars entered into the Municipal Market Street, where hundreds of activists of the YSRC welcomed their leader with the party flags.
Mr. Jagan greeted people by waving and folding his hands. Amid playing of trumpets, bursting of crackers and playing of the party songs , the party workers gave him a grand welcome to the town. Some enthusiasts showered flower petals on their leaders, while the others competed with one another to record their close moments with the leader with their mobile phones.
The moving convoy had a brief halt near the municipal market, where Mr. Jagan got down from the vehicle and interacted with a few people. An enthusiastic party worker brought a ceiling fan, the symbol of the YSRC, on which the party flag had been engraved.
Braving the scorching sun, people of different age groups rounded him and greeted him with smiles. Mr. Jagan urged them to cast their vote for the YSRC in the ensuring elections, so that he could address all their problems . Though he had not made any speech, he told people that their vote could bring them ‘Rajanna Rajyam.’ Children had a gala time in mingling with people and raising slogans, while a few elderly people sitting under trees began discussions on the possible outcome of the ensuing elections. The road show proceeded towards Peddapuram town.
