Accusing Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of dancing to the tunes of the Union government, Panchayat Raj and Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh on Friday wondered why Mr. Jagan not even made a single comment against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech at the valedictory of his ‘Praja Sankalpa Yatra.’

“Mr. Jagan criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at least 20 times during his speech of the duration of one hour and forty minutes. But, he never made a single remark against the Prime Minister,” he said while addressing a public meeting arranged as part of the ‘Janmabhoomi-Maa Ooru’ programme at Peddapuram.

“There is now doubt Mr. Jagan is trying to be friendly with the Centre to get rid of the cases registered against him. For this, he is forgetting to protect the interests of the State and not even questioning the Centre’s discrimination against the State,” he said.

“Only the TDP government can assure you development and welfare,” he said, adding that the State topped in the ease of doing business, ease of living and ease of rural development as well.

The Minister inaugurated drinking water project at Kattamuru that was established at a cost of ₹5 crore and laid foundation stone to the door-to-door water supply project (Jaladhara) to be laid at an expected outlay of ₹4.93 crore. He inaugurated the Mandal Parishad office building at Peddapuram constructed at a cost of ₹1.2 crore and laid foundation stones for the Kapu Kalyana Madapam and BC Community Hall at Divili.

Women’s protest

When the Minister was inaugurating the drinking water project at Kattamuru, a group of women expressed resentment over the non-allocation of roads and street lights to part of village. They alleged that only the ruling party workers were being benefited from the welfare schemes. The police took the women into custody .

Home Minister N. Chinarajappa, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council Reddi Subrahmanyam, MLAs S.V.S.N. Varma, Jyothula Nehru and Varupula Subba Rao, ZP Chairman Jyothula Naveen Kumar and others were present.
