IUML: repeal UAPA

May 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:55 am IST - MALAPPURAM:

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) here on Saturday reiterated its demand for repeal of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The IUML demand came in the wake of the acquittal of 17 youngsters, including four Malayalis, by a Hubli court after they suffered seven years in jail without parole.

IUML secretary E.T. Mohammed Basheer, MP, and State general secretary K.P.A. Majeed said all cases charged under the UAPA should be subjected to judicial review and that the government should pay damages to the victims.
