An Intensive Respiratory Care Unit (IRCU) was inaugurated at Government Victoria Hospital for Women and Children (Ghosha Hospital) in the old city area on Wednesday.
The IRCU would be of great help to women getting admitted for delivery, in case any respiratory problems arise, MLA of Visakha South V. Ganesh Kumar said after inaugurating the unit.
He thanked Rotary Clubs of Visakhapatnam for providing the facility, costing Rs. 3 lakh, at the hospital. The MLA appealed to NGOs, PSUs, and corporate houses to donate liberally to the hospital for creating many facilities. More than 9,000 deliveries are conducted at the hospital every year.
Hospital Superintendent N. Uma said the hospital needed more beds as the existing strength was not sufficient and the sanctioned doctor and nurse posts must be filled up.
