Minister for BC Welfare, Information and Public Relations (I&PR) and Cinematography Chelluboyina Venugopala Krishna also assumed office on Tuesday.

The minister said that while there were 139 castes listed as  Backward Classes (BCs), Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan  Reddy gave 70% of the Cabinet berths to BCs, ST, SC and minorities. No other Chief Minister did such justice to them, he said.

There were plenty of opportunities for the development of the cinema industry in the State. The government would take necessary steps to give a boost to the development of the cinema industry, he said.

As an I&PR minister, the onus lies on me to take the government efforts, programmes, plans and welfare schemes to the people. The government initiated many administrative reforms.  The welfare schemes were being implemented through direct benefit transfer (DBT).  The target was poverty alleviation and the poor benefited with the welfare schemes, he said.

To question house sites for journalists, the Minister said that he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister.

I&PR Additional Director L. Swarnalatha, Chief Engineer O. Madhusudhan, Joint Directors P. Kiran Kumar and T. Kasturi Bai and others presented bouquets to him.
