The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh has felicitated international athletes N. Usha and Shaik Jafreen on the occasion of Ugadi celebrations in the city on Saturday.
Ms. Usha, an international boxer from Visakhapatnam, is a recipient of the Dhyanchand Lifetime Achievement Award and Ms. Jafreen from Kurnool is a deaf tennis champion and is the recipient of the Best Sportsperson with Disabilities national award.
SAAP vice-chairman and managing director N. Prabhakar Reddy who felicitated the duo, asked Ms. Usha to train more boxers in the State so that more national and international-level competitions could be won.
Mr. Reddy wished Ms. Jafreen to win gold at the Deaflympics, an international tournament for athletes with hearing impairment, to be held in May in Brazil.
