Human Resources Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Friday said innovative methodologies would be introduced in classroom teaching to enhance the standard of school education.

Addressing a review meeting attended by the officials of the Education Department and representatives of various NGOs working with the government on educational schemes, the Minister said the government had decided to implement recommendations made by the Malaysia’s Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU), set up by the Malaysian government in 2009, to lead a change in that country and to ensure that its national transformation programmes were successfully delivered. He said NGOs were being engaged for effective implementation of these programmes.

New learning experiences

He said the ‘Ananda Lahari Abhyasana’ programme being implemented in collaboration with Rishi Valley and TIDE Learning would be further strengthened. TIDE learning envisages development of tech-assisted learning tools-delivered via tablets, that will create new learning experiences in primary education for teachers and less privileged children across the globe.

The Minister said currently the programme was being implemented in 1,347 schools and the number of schools would be increased.

Referring to the scheme implemented by Pratham organisation for students of 1 and 2 std., the Minister directed the officials to include students of 3, 4 and 5 classes and replicate the programme in every district across the State barring Chittoor and Nellore.

He said the teacher training being imparted by the Isha Foundation should be extended to teachers of eighth standard also and reviewed other training programmes in fine arts, music and dance and other areas.

Commissioner of School Education K. Sandhya Rani and other officials were present.
