Inspector General of Police, South Coastal Range, P.V Sunil Kumar, who was transferred as IGP, CID, was given a warm farewell by police officers here on Monday.
Prakasam Collector Kantilal Dande, SP (Guntur Urban) Rajesh Kumar, ASPs J. Bhaskara Rao, A. Srinivasa Rao and other officials from the Police Department were also present at the farewell meeting organised at the Umesh Chandra Conference Hall in the city.
N. Sanjay, the new IGP, also took charge on Monday.
Mr. Dande and Mr. Rajesh Kumar thanked the IGP for his leadership during general elections in 2014. After the formation of the new government, the IGP acted as a guide to the new SPs of Guntur Rural and Urban districts.
Mr. Sunil Kumar who took charge as the IGP in May, 2013, has earned a name for enforcing strict discipline in the force .
He has also started innovative measures to bring police closer to people, including instant FIRs to be issued at District Police Office, launching of Facebook pages for every police district etc.
During 2013-2014, Mr. Sunil Kumar ordered as many as 67 oral enquiries, apart from serving notices in 17 cases.
Station House Officers of Pattabhipuram, Nallapadu and Arundelpet have been placed under suspension for interfering in civic disputes.
