Hope for survivors diminished on Wednesday with the confirmation of seven deaths in Chennai building collapse incident. Word from Chennai that K. Krishnaveni and Chukka Mahesh have survived raised hopes among the other families but it evaporated by evening.

The district administration confirmed the death of D. Padma (Narasannapeta), A. Ramesh (Kotturu), Kongarapu Srinu, Pulisetti Jyoti (Hiramandalam), Muddada Srinivasa Rao (Kotabommali mandal), Meesala Srinu (Gottalaxmipuram), and Appalanarasamma (LN Peta). A pal of gloom descended on the families with the loss of their dear ones.

Family members of other workers were also worried with the increase of toll. The administration said 19 bodies were yet to be identified and it took the help of other workers and close relatives to identify them.

Relatives of deceased Jyoti waited at RTC complex anxiously to receive the body on Wednesday evening. Family members could not control themselves when they saw the body. Srikakulam Joint Collector Veera Pandiyan said that the government had made all arrangements for the transport of other bodies to Srikakulam from Chennai.

Tehsildhars of the concerned mandals were directed to make arrangements for their funeral.
