Heat wave conditions alarming: CM

Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu has advised people to take precautions in view of unusual high temperatures due to heat wave conditions across the State.

Mr.Naidu who reviewed the situation with the Collectors on Saturday directed them to create awareness among people and give wide publicity to ‘Dos and Don’ts’ to be observed by people to protect themselves from heat wave conditions.

Later speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister said the situation was alarming as the day temperatures were five to six degrees more than normal and they would remain so for the next one week to 10 days. There was no drinking water crisis any where in the State and adequate funds were release for drinking water transportation in problem areas.

Appealing to people to avoid venturing out between 11 a.m and 4 p.m, he directed the administration and party workers to set up drinking water shelters and distribute butter milk.

He said so far over 100 people succumbed to heat wave conditions in Prakasam, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaam, East Godavari, Krishna , Guntur, Nellore districts and Anantapur districts and Prakasam accounted for maximum deaths of 40. Last year 447 deaths were reported due to suns stroke, he said.

The Chief Minister on Friday announced an ex-gratia of Rs.1 lakh to the families of heat wave victims.
