HC asks CBI to file affidavit in Abhaya case

June 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - KOCHI:

The Kerala High Court on Monday directed the CBI to file an affidavit regarding the investigation into the case relating to the destruction of evidence in the Sister Abhaya case. Justice K. Harilal directed the Investigation Officer to file the affidavit within three weeks.

The directive came on a criminal revision petition filed by Jomon Puthenpurackal against a Thiruvananthapuram CBI Special Court’s order rejecting his plea for a probe into the role of police officers in the destruction of evidence in the case. According to the petitioner, the High Court had earlier directed the CBI to conduct further investigation into the case relating to the destruction of evidence in the case within three months on December 19, 2013.
