Half-burnt body of cab driver found in bushes

A half-burnt body of a cab driver from Visakhapatnam, was allegedly murdered, was found in the bushes near Bommuru in Rajahmundry Rural mandal on Monday evening. According to East Zone DSP Asma Farheen, locals alerted the police at around 4.30 p.m. after finding the body near Gadalamma temple.

Police, who inspected the site, found some cash, a tollgate receipt of NAD junction and Andhra Bank cash receipt there. Based on the details, the police made an enquiry and found that body belonged to Karri Kiran (23) of Kancharapalem in Visakhapatnam. He was working with M. Vijaya Kumar Reddy as a tourist cab driver. He last spoke to his owner at 1.00 a.m. and his cell phone was found in switch off mode. The DSP said that Kiran’s body had stab injuries on lower part of the head, left side of the neck, stomach and other places.

Ms. Farheen said that they are suspecting that Kiran was murdered in between Vizag and Rajahmundry and his body was brought here and the culprits tried to burn it with petrol and left with the car. The reasons for murder were not yet known. Clues team has been pressed into action.
