Minister for Agriculture P. Pulla Rao said here on Friday that the State government would invoke provisions under Land Acquisition Act to acquire lands in few river front villages from May 14.

The Minister was quick to add that only those lands identified as suitable for capital would be acquired.

Land owners in Penumaka, Undavalli, Nidamarru and Mangalagiri had not given consent to give their lands to the State Government. About 3,500 acres out of 37,500 acres notified for the Capital region was yet to be pooled by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA).

The Minister also claimed that development agreements have been signed with 40 per cent of land owners and expressed confidence that over the next few days, the process of entering agreements with land owners would be completed. Later, the Minister visited Krishnayapalem, Lingayapalem and reviewed the progress of payment of annuities to land owners.
