Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana on Tuesday said the government would use the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act 2013 to acquire lands whose owners have not given consent letters.
HC order
The statement comes a day after the High Court declined to issue an interim order staying the land pooling process. The High Court had maintained that it was not inclined to issue a stay order unless it was satisfied that there was an imminent danger to the interests of farmers.
Owners of 24,800 acres of patta land have given consent letters, with the percentage of land pooling touching 90 per cent in Thullur. But, owners of 9,000 acres in some river-front villages have given objection forms.
The Minister ruled out extension of deadline for pooling of land beyond February 28 and exuded hope that land owners in the river-front villages, too, would give consent letters in the next three to four days.
We will set in motion the process of land acquisition in those villages where land owners have not given consent letters
