Young and old alike demonstrated the power of yoga postures at a yoga festival which concluded on Sunday, coinciding with the International Yoga Day celebrations here.

Thumati Sravanthi, an internationally acclaimed yoga practitioner led the large number of people in performing easy as well as difficult yoga asanas in unison.

Joint Collector M. Hari Jawaharlal, TDP State Secretary T. Aruna, noted medical practioner Raavipatti Prasada Rao, noted writer P. Rajalakshmi were among those who did stretching and breathing exercises under the overall guidance of Patanjali Yoga Peetam State Vice-President G. Balasubramanium.

Speaking on the occasion, Gyana Sindhu founder-president P.Ramachandra Murthy called for a movement to rekindle interest in yoga among the people at the grassroots level at a time when other countries had recognised the importance of yoga in integrated health management.

The Patanjali Yoga Peetam announced that it would hold yoga classes in interested schools free of cost for students. The health camp was inaugurated by District Colector Sujatha Sharma along with, among others, Principal District Judge K.V. Vijaykumar.
