Girl attempts suicide over poor marks in exam

A tenth class girl student , Kalyani (15), from Tummachetlapalle village of Kurabalakota mandal of Madanapalle division made an attempt to commit suicide by jumping in front a running train between Kurabalakota and Madanapalle section on Thursday afternoon. She has lost her legs and is battling for life at a hospital.

According to the railway police, the girl had got poor marks in the unit tests at her school. Taking this as an insult, she reached the railway track nearby and resorted to the extreme step. She was rushed to the Government Hospital at Madanapalle by 108 ambulance service and her condition was stated to be critical.

The police also recovered a suicide note from the site.

Mystery shrouds death

An elderly couple was murdered by unidentified assailants at Pothavaram village, near N.G.Padu in Prakasam district on Thursday.

"Prima facie, it appears to be a murder for gain. It seems to be the handiwork of some persons known to the elderly couple," Prakasam Superintendent of Police Ch. Srikanth said after visiting the scene of crime. The assailants had decamped with ''Mangalasutra'' after hitting hard the couple with a blunt weapon, Deputy Superintendent of Police G.Srinivasa Rao said. Both suffered serious head injuries, resulting in their instantaneous death. The deceased were identified as U.Suryanarayana(65) and his wife U.Vijayalakshmi(60).

A CLUES team and a Dog Squad aree rushed to the village to crack the case.
