Five inter-State robbers held, booty worth₹66 lakh seized


The gang allegedly committed 80 offences, says SP

The police have busted a gang of five inter-State robbers including a woman and recovered gold, silver and cash, all worth ₹ 66 lakh, from their possession.

The offenders have allegedly committed offences in about 10 towns in different parts of the State, East Godavari Superintendent of Police Vishal Gunni told the media here on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Seelam Anil Kumar (30), Kosuri Ramakrishna (28), Narava Mohan (39), Bonda Sateesh (30) and his wife Bonda Durga Parameswari (29).

“Seelam Anil Kumar, the kingpin of the gang, while serving a 10-year term in Visakhapatnam Central Jail met another accused. After their release, they started committing the crimes again. They were nabbed in Visakhapatnam by Kakinada Central Crime Station DSP A. Pallapuraju and his team. Based on the information provided by them, the police arrested the other three accused and the stolen jewellery which they had stashed in different places were recovered,” the SP said.

The offenders were allegedly involved in around 80 crimes reported from Rajamahendravaram, Ongole, Eluru, Nellore, Gannavaram, Guntur, Chintalapudi, Tanuku, Bheemavaram and Hyderabad.

The seized jewellery include 2.1 kg gold worth ₹61.4 lakh and 3.8 kg silver worth ₹1.64 lakh and ₹2 lakh in cash. The SP congratulated the police team which nabbed the gang members.
