A minor fire accident was reported at Matrix Bio Mass plant in Karempudi mandal in Palnadu region on wednesday.
District Fire Officer M.A.Q. Jeelani said fire arose from a heap of waste material left on the premises. Fire tenders from Macherla, Piduguralla and Vinukonda rushed to the unit and doused the flames. The exact cause for the fire was not known immediately.
With the soaring day temperatures, the Fire and Emergency Department, Guntur, is being flooded with calls. “We have been receiving 20-25 calls everyday for the last week. We are rushing fire tenders from the nearest fire stations,” the DFO said.
The Fire Department has proposed to the government to permit it to set up fire stations at Thullur and Amaravathi.
