Farmers can enjoy land till LA process ends: HC

October 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - Hyderabad:

Justice Vilas Afzulpurkar of the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday made it clear that farmers whose lands were notified by the Andhra Pradesh government to be acquired for the airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianaganram district could continue to enjoy the lands till the proceedings for acquiring lands were complete.

The judge was recording the statement made by the counsel for the AP that the proceedings to acquire the lands would take two to three months and till then the activities of farmers would not be interfered with.

The court was not inclined to stay the proceedings initiated under new Land Acquisition Act. The court was dealing with writ petitions filed by Datla Venkata Appala Prasada Raju and others. They challenged the LA proceedings.

They contended that the ordinance issued by the Central government had expired on August 31 and the notification was issued by the State government on the same day.
