The Kuppam Rural police on Sunday took into custody a 67-year-old farmer, Krishnappa, of Sivaramapuram village in Shantipuram mandal, and seized 13 crude bombs from his possession.

According to the Rallabuduguru police, acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted on a hideout in his fields, leading to the seizure of the bombs.

During interrogation, Krishnappa said he was in the habit of placing the crude bombs inside carcasses, or mixing them with food stuff, with an intention to capture wild boars and sell the bushmeat at a price.

Investigation was being undertaken to find out whether the accused had manufactured the bombs himself, or procured them from any other source, the police said.
