Dairy Show 2015 comes to an end

As the curtains came down on the three-day Dairy Show 2015, billed as South India’s biggest, dairy farmers Ravi Varma and Srikrishna Gouvanama were judged Best Conservator of Indian Breed and Rare Breed, respectively, getting cash prizes of Rs. 5,000 each, here on Monday.

Farmers and organisations – Bali Reddy Swamy of Dharani Dairy, Sri Bharathi Narayana Reddy of the GouSevaa Sangham and Venkateswara Dairy, Nidadavole Raju, Siri Dairy Farm, Shankar Dairy, M.S. Raju, Rajahmundry Abbulu, N. Venugopal Rao and Sunil Farms were recognised for their contribution to the sector, in preserving Indian varieties of cattle.

Animals from different breeds that were on display for the benefit of visitors all through the three days at the event, were given awards too.

Organised by the Active Group Exhibitors and Conference Organisers, it drew appreciable response with eager farmers thronging the over 100 stalls where exhibitors showcased their products and services.

The show is a joint initiative with the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Telangana, and the department took care to motivate hordes of visitors.

As part of the show, there was also a full-day’s conference, particularly aimed at helping new entrepreneurs set up dairy farms.

The session witnessed 70 participants from a wide variety of backgrounds.
