Congress leaders are up in arms against the act of some persons in insulting the AICC president Sonia Gandhi in Chittoor district.
Their ire is directed at the outrageous act in Chittoor district where a highly objectionable structure aimed at the AICC chief was constructed. Labour Minister Danam Nagender expressed distress over such a development and lashed out at the elements for their tirade against Ms. Gandhi.
Union Minister K. Chirajeevi, reacting sharply to the incident, demanded that the police should identify the culprits and take stern action.
He said in a country where women are given pride of place, such acts only causes anguish. He said some persons in the guise of united AP movement were indulging in such acts.
Mr. Nagender along with the Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee activists staged a dharna and dashed of letters to the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and the Director General of Police to look into the issue. He appealed to the authorities to examine the scope for initiating action under Information Technology Act against the culprits, who were using social media to belittle Ms. Gandhi.
Rajya Sabha member Rapolu Anand Bhaskar blamed the Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, for turning a blind eye towards the inhuman and atrocious structure aimed at the party president. Another MP G. Vivekanand and former Minister G. Vinod, in a joint statement, condemned the act.
