October 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - KURNOOL:

Members of the Minority, BC, SC and ST cells will stage demonstrations in front of Ambedkar statues all over the State on Wednesday deploring registration of communal cases against 1,600 persons of the communities in the country in the BJP rule.

Of them, 900 cases were against BC, SC and STs, A.P. Congress Committee Minority Cell State president Ahmed Ali Khan told a news conference here on Tuesday. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of spreading communalism and shatter communal amity. The Congress upheld secularism and democratic norms, he asserted.

Citing the Didri killing, attack on Churches in Delhi and other incidents, Mr. Ali Khan criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for not condemning any communal incidents. The PCC Minority Cell leader also had a dig at Opposition leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy accusing him of favouring vote-bank politics, but not reacting to such attacks.

Congress cadre would stage demonstrations and send memoranda to President Pranab Kumar Mukherjee, Mr. Ahmed Ali Khan said. PCC general secretaries Satyanarayana Reddy and Sudarshan Reddy, PCC secretary Pedda Reddy, SC Cell leader Nagappa and Mahila Congress leader Salamma participated.

Bharatiya Janata Party is spreading communalism and trying to shatter communal harmony, says A.P. Congress Committee Minority Cell State president
