Collector M.M. Naik has said that ‘mass aksharabhyasam’ for children above five years of age would be conducted as part of ‘Badi Pilusthondi’ programme that would begin on June 15 and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu is likely to participate in it.
At a meeting with mandal educational officers and community resource persons on Thursday, Mr. Naik asked them to make arrangements accordingly in addition to putting up science exhibition stalls and arranging cultural activities.
He threatened CRPs of action if any child above five years of age is left out of school.
Keeping more number of vacancies in disabled welfare hostels and KGBVs in view, he made CRPs and KGBV special officers responsible for 100 per cent enrolment in these establishments. He also appealed to National Child Labour Programme officials, voluntary organisations, anganwadis and parents to coordinate with the administration and ensure that all children in the school-going age are enrolled in schools during the ‘Badi Pilusthondi’ programme.
