‘CM for U.S. on a private programme’

It has nothing to do with UN, says GVL

BJP MP G.V.L. Narasimha Rao on Saturday said the event in New York where Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was scheduled to speak on natural farming on September 25 was a private programme being organised by the World Economic Forum and it had nothing to do with the United Nations (UN) as claimed by officials.

Mr. Rao told media persons here that the BJP had no objection if Mr. Naidu confined himself to the topic and did not use the event (Sustainable Development Impact Summit-2018) as a platform to speak politics.

Mr. Rao said the A.P. government was insisting that a minor port should be established at Ramayapatnam when the Central government was in favour of setting up a major port there as an alternative to the one proposed at Dugarajapatnam, which was declared unviable.

He questioned the State government’s interest in a minor port. The Centre had even constituted a task force to set up a major one there.

Mr. Rao asked how it was possible to complete the first phase of the Veligonda by Sankranti. He asked the TDP leaders not to play up the CM.
