Members of the APSRTC National Mazdoor Union (NMU) demonstrated before the Kurnool Collectorate on Monday demanding action to check unauthorised private vehicles plying in Kurnool district and eating into the RTC’s revenue.

The district-level committee with the Collector as chairman should initiate steps to check plying of contract services as stage carriers, sleeper coach buses plied with permit taken for other States, increase tax on private vehicles on par with APSRTC, check plying of autorickshaws, maxi cabs, general purpose vehicle and 7-seater autos with overloading, they demanded.

The union’s State vice-president Y. Madhusudan, zonal secretary K.A. Khan, regional secretary P. Maddileti, regional president Shafiullah, district secretary C, Maddileti and zonal joint secretary P.Md. Ismail submitted a memorandum to District Collector S. Satyanarayana.
