The centralised drug store with two special cold storerooms, which can keep medicines and drugs at minus 25 degree Celsius, was inaugurated by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on the premises of RIMS here on Sunday.

The central drug store holds 298 drugs, medicines, and parenterals worth Rs.3.16 crore and has two iso-lined coolers (ILCs) which hold 56 items. The ILCs store items like anti-rabies vaccine, medicines for dialysis, gyneac problems, anaesthetics, insulin, and vials of TT. The ultra cold storerooms hold drugs and medicines used in head injuries, sticks for diabetes and pregnancy testing kits and anti snake venom, among others. The facility caters to the requirements of all PHCs, urban health centres, community health centres, and government hospitals in the district, pharmacist Rajasekhar explained.
