Members of a special CBI team spent two days in East Godavari district to elicit information on Sana Satish Babu, an Electricity department employee-turned-business magnate from the city, who kicked up a controversy by making allegations against the top brass of the agency.
It is learnt that the team from New Delhi reached the city on Saturday night and conducted searches in a private house, purported to be the guest house of Mr. Satish Babu, besides interacting with his relatives and close friends. It is also learnt that the officials met district officials on the real estate transactions suspected to have been carried out by Mr. Satish Babu.
The district officials, however, were not willing to confirm the team’s visit. According to the sources, the CBI team visited Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram and the surrounding villages and met relatives, friends and business partners of Mr. Satish Babu.
After a stint in the Electricity Board, Mr. Satish ventured into business a few years ago. He developed rapport with politicians and business people and soon expanded his businesses to foreign countries. As he never missed to be in touch with his native place and his people here, the CBI focussed on the district.
