Veteran Carnatic musicians Koniki Satyanarayana and Nelabhotla Ranganayaka Sarma were honoured with ‘Panchalavarapu Prasada Lifetime Achievement Award’ by the Thyagaraja Mandiram here as part of the Thyagaraja Aradhana festival.

The services of the duo to promote Carnatic music were recalled by Thyagaraja Mandiram managing trustee P. Ramachandra Murthy at the award investiture ceremony on the holy precincts of Thyagaraja Mandiram late on Sunday.

Accepting the felicitations, Mr Satyanarayana gave a demonstration-cum-lecture on appreciation of Carnatic music by one and all.

Mr. Satyanarayana, heading the Sri Rama Gana Sabha in Hyderabad, has done a yeoman service to Carnatic music by organising music concerts on a regular basis to provide opportunity for upcoming musicians to prove their mettle.

Mr Ranganayaka Sarma, a retired AIR Kadapa artiste, had produced a good number of Carnatic musicians.
