Bring down mother-child mortality rate, officials told

District Collector Siddarth Jain on Monday instructed the officials of the Medical and Health Department and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) to chalk out an action plan jointly to bring down the mother-child mortality rate in the district. He expressed satisfaction that the Chittoor district advanced into second position from its earlier 13th position in the aspect of decline in the mother-child mortality rate.

Mr Jain was interacting with the ICDS and medical officials at Piler after participating in the Prajavani (public grievance cell). He directed the officials to monitor the supply of nutritious provisions to the pregnant and lactating mothers and infants, apart from maintaining of records pertaining to immunisation of children.

Later, the Collector had joined the community lunch organised at the house of a local anganwadi worker in Piler. In the evening, he inspected various public utility services in Piler division. Joint Collector Narayan Bharath Guptha and senior officials accompanied him.
