District Collector Bharat Narayana Gupta on Wednesday sought the medical and paramedical staff of all the government hospitals to give top priority to reduce the mother and infant mortality rate, by undertaking effective steps at the field level.
The Collector inspected the Government Area Hospital at Kuppam. After interacting with the patients and general public, Mr, Gupta held a meeting with the hospital staff.
The official, who himself a doctor, said that the medical officers at all the primary health centres, cluster and area hospitals should monitor the field work of the paramedical staff concerning the treatment being provided for the pregnant women, supply of nutritious material and facilitating their regular visits to the hospitals. The Collector said that the incentives under the Janani Suraksha Yojana should be disbursed to the beneficiaries without any delay. He sought all the medical officers to equip the hospitals with necessary medicines and surgical care for institutional deliveries, with emphasis on avoiding Caesarean sections.
Mr. Gupta sought the medical officers to create the basic facilities for the inpatients and outpatients as well at the hospitals. “Prompt steps should be in place at the hospitals to avoid shortage of medicines,” he said.
The Collector said that the biometric attendance would be maintained at all hospitals strictly.
