The body of a female infant was found on platform No 1 on the premises of Guntur Railway Station creating a minor flutter. Railway police had initially pressed a bomb squad who later found the body of a female infant.
Government Railway Police said the body wrapped in a plastic cover was found by sweepers on Tuesday morning. Police said a diaper was also wrapped around the waist.
“The baby could have died five or six days ago. We are investigating into the incident and are verifying the CCTV footage,’’ said a police officer.
