‘BJP-TDP deceived people’

September 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - ONGOLE:

Activists of the ruling Congress filed police complaints in different parts of Prakasam district alleging that the ruling BJP-TDP combine had ‘deceived’ the people of the State by not fulfilling its poll promise of grant of Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.

Leading the party activists, Ongole City Congress president Sripathy Prakasam said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu had taken a U-turn on SCS and this amounted to ''criminal breach of trust''.

Activists led by party Kondepi Assembly constituency in-charge G.Raj Vimal held the BJP-TDP combine liable for action under IPC section 418 (cheating with knowledge that wrongful loss may ensue to person whose interest offender is bound to protect), before lodging a complaint with the Tangutur police.

Led by party Markapur Assembly constituency in-charge Sk.Saida, the activists appended to their complaint copies of the ‘dying declarations’ of those who had allegedly committed suicide upset over the delay in the grant of Special Category Status and Union and State Ministers talking in terms of special package in the place of Special Category Status.

Similar petitions were failed in, among other places Chimakurthy and Hanumanthunipadu, demanding criminal action against the ruling dispensations both at the Centre and in the State.
