There was mild tension at Bantupalli village of Ranasthalam mandal in the district following a clash between the cadres of the YSRCP and the BJP in the early hours of Tuesday.
Trouble started when the YSRCP cadre allegedly removed the banners and flags the BJP arranged in the village to celebrate the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading to a scuffle in which BJP functionaries Vanama Srinivasa Rao, Vanama Lakshmi and Ganta Suryanarayana were allegedly manhandled.
Mr. Suryanarayana, who was injured in the incident, was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Srikakulam. Reacting to the incident BJP Etcherla in-charge N. Eswara Rao urged the police to register cases against the persons concerned, and said the issue would be brought to the notice of the leadership.
The BJP later organised Swachh Bharat programme in the village as part of the ‘Seva Saptaham’.
