The District Medical and Health department and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) jointly organised the National Girl Child Day at Krishnaveni Girls Junior College here on Saturday.

District Collector Siddarth Jain inaugurated the celebration and wanted the girl students to concentrate on education and be proud to have been born as girls. Mr Jain recalled that he had launched a mega signature campaign in Khammam district with the theme “We want girl children.” “I am proud that I have a sister and a seven-month baby,” he said.

Later, the Collector gave away prizes to the meritorious students of arts and science groups. District Medical and Health Officer K. Koteswari and college principal Dr Annapurna took part in the programme.
