A B. Tech second year student of Annamacharya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Somu Sai, 20, was brutally murdered near the government degree college in Rajampet town in Kadapa district on Monday night.

Local people noticed the student lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab injuries in bushes near the degree college and alerted the police.

Rajampet DSP B. Lakshminarayana and Sub-Inspector Rajagopal visited the place of murder. The student went out on his two-wheeler after having dinner at home but was found dead within an hour, according to the police. The deceased student allegedly had a tiff with some students about 10 days ago and it could have led to the murder, police suspected. His father Sivaiah, of Varadaiahpalem in Rajampet mandal, who runs a kirana shop near Rajampet old bus stand, went on a pilgrimage to Shirdi a couple of days ago. The boy’s mother collapsed on seeing his body and was rushed to hospital. Rajampet police registered a case.
