Irrigation Minister D. Umamaheswara Rao on Saturday stated that water drawn from the Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme was being supplied to 60,000 acres of aqua ponds in Krishna delta. Addressing the water societies’ members and farmers of Diviseema at Puligadda village, Mr. Umamaheswara Rao claimed that the Pattiseema project promises irrigation facility for 13.8 lakh acres, including aquaculture, in the Krishna delta.
‘Halt to migration’
Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad said the Godavari water supplied through the Pattiseema project had ensured timely sowing of paddy in Diviseema, where water had been supplied to tail-end areas. “The migration of agriculture workers from Diviseema has been brought down by providing timely irrigation water for kharif operations in Koduru, Avanigadda and Nagayalanka mandals,” said Mr. Buddha Prasad.
The two leaders listed out the grievances of the farmers of Diviseema in getting access to irrigation water and management of the irrigation water. ZPTC members and irrigation officials were present.
