The ongoing winter session of the Assembly may spill over to the month of February going by the tight schedule lined up.
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy is already planning to seek extension of the January 23 deadline set by the President for the State Legislature to give its views on the draft AP Reorganisation Bill 2013. No formal communication has been sent but the Seemandhra leaders are firm on seeking more days for the debate as they feel that there are several inconsistencies in the Bill that need to be discussed threadbare.
Before the air on the issue is cleared, the notification for the Rajya Sabha elections has been issued and members have to cast their votes on February 7, if polling is necessitated.
The biennial election will be followed by the vote on account budget which has to be passed by the Assembly before the notification for the Lok Sabha polls is issued. With the Election Commission reportedly planning to do it in March first week, it will become mandatory for the Assembly to pass the budget before the stipulated time for which the House should be summoned.
“We are waiting for some clarity on the extension of the ongoing debate to end. ,” the Minister said.
