A first year Pre-University Course (PUC) student of IIIT, Nuzvid campus, in Krishna district, Dabbaka Ramadevi (16), allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the hostel building on Saturday. She was a native of Vandanapeta village in Srikakulam district.

This is the second suicide in Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) IIIT here, in the last four days. Lakshmi Narasimha Murthy, 16, of East Godavari district allegedly hanged himself in the hostel room on October 11.

Students, who found Ramadevi writhing in pain, shifted her to the campus dispensary, where the doctors referred her to Vijayawada.

She was admitted in a private hospital and died while undergoing treatment.

Ramadevi spoke with her parents around 5 a.m. and allegedly leapt from the hostel building after some time.

She suffered multiple fractures, the students said.

Nuzvid Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) V. Srinivas Rao said the reason of the suicide was not known.

The body was shifted to Government General Hospital, Vijayawada, for autopsy and investigation in on, Mr. Rao said.
