Anganwadi workers threaten agitation

May 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - NELLORE:

Anganwadi workers have threatened to intensify agitation, if the government does not solve their problems with regard to their salaries at the earliest.

Anganwadi Workers’ Association State secretary Rajamma on Saturday alleged that as many as 15 anganwadi members were removed from their service because they had put forth their demands during the Women’s Day celebrations here.

Anganwadis workers were being harassed on trivial grounds, while the officials had been turning a blind eye to their problems, she said. Rajamma said the administration should reinstate the retrenched workers. She wanted immediate action based on the recommendations of the Sub-committee formed to look into their problems.
