Fear gripped residents of Agency mandals in East Godavari district on Thursday as the Sabari rose menacingly.

As a result of incessant rain for the last one week, all the streams and rivulets were overflowing and the excess water started reaching the Sabari. The water level at Chintoor was 32 feet in the morning, and by evening, it had gone up to 38 feet.

The road between Chintoor and Vara Ramachandrapuram became impassable and other arterial ones in the Agency area too were flooded.

In Devipatnam mandal, Seethapalli Vagu was in spate, cutting off about 30 villages from the rest of the world.
