Ajeya Kallam takes charge as principal advisor to CM

A 1983 batch IAS officer, Mr. Kallam has a post-graduate degree in agriculture and an MBA from Australia.

Former Chief Secretary Ajeya Kallam took charge as the principal advisor to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

He was greeted on the occasion by Chief Secretary L.V. Subrahmanyam, Principal Secretary (GAD) Ram Prakash Sisodia, Secretary (energy) N. Srikanth and other senior officers.

Earlier, Mr. Kallam met Mr. Reddy and thanked him for appointing him as the principal advisor with Cabinet rank.

A 1983 batch IAS officer, Mr. Kallam has a post-graduate degree in agriculture and an MBA from Australia. He worked in many top positions in a career spanning over three decades, including as the Chief Secretary of the Government of A.P., Chairman of Visakhapatnam Port Trust, and Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.

Mr. Kallam will be the head of the Chief Minister’s Office and allot the subjects between the Secretaries of the Chief Minister, and all advisors of the government are accountable to him. His initial period of appointment is three years for a fixed monthly remuneration of ₹2.50 lakh.

He is provided an Officer on Special Duty and a private secretary and other staff, according to a Government Order.
